Day 2: Hyden to Esperance (362 km)

Leave Hyden behind and make your way to Esperance, stopping at some incredible places along the way. Lake King is a must-see. The expansive salt lake offers a great opportunity for bird watching and photography. Just a short detour off your route, Fitzgerald River National Park is well worth a visit. Known for its stunning biodiversity, the park is home to over 1,800 plant species and a variety of wildlife. Another interesting stop is Lake Camm, a unique salt lake where you can walk out onto the vast salt flats, offering a surreal landscape that’s both fun and fascinating. Once you arrive in Esperance, set up camp at Bathers Paradise Caravan Park and enjoy a relaxing walk along the picturesque esplanade.

Day 3: Esperance to Lucky Bay (62 km)

Before heading directly to Lucky Bay, consider taking the scenic Great Ocean Drive, a 40-kilometer loop that starts and ends in Esperance. This drive offers breathtaking views of the coastline and passes by some of Esperance’s most beautiful beaches. A short drive brings you to Lucky Bay, where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch by the beach. Afterwards, head to Frenchman Peak for a stunning sunset view overlooking Cape Le Grand National Park. Spend the night at Dunns Eco Park, a friendly campsite perfect for a peaceful evening.

Day 4: Lucky Bay to Fitzgerald (306 km)

Start your day watching the sunrise at Hellfire Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. Then, hit the road to Fitzgerald, stopping at Duke of Orleans Bay, a stunning, lesser-known bay that offers excellent swimming, fishing, and snorkelling opportunities.
