#starstoryAnnie & Steve: Reconnection

A couple's journey through Australia rekindles their connection and spirit of adventure.

While we met travelling in India and have travelled a lot over the years, we realised that recently time was really just passing us by. We needed to reconnect with each other and with life in general and I think we needed some time and space away from everyday life.

So we decided to stay in Australia and explore more places we hadn't seen together.

We decided to fly to Perth and start our road trip there, before heading down to the South West to see Esperance before heading up to Broome, over to Darwin and down to Adelaide. We knew this was going to be the biggest road trip we had ever experienced, yet we had no idea about what the journey was really going to look like.

While I had already seen a few places a long time ago as a backpacker, it was really interesting to go back and see how much I had changed since then. This really helped me reflect and move forward to be able to grow more as a person.

Since doing the trip, we were fortunate to see so much of Australia. More that even most Australians could only dream of seeing. It opened our eyes to really connect with the country more, while reconnecting with each other at the same time. It was honestly a trip that changed us for the better.

There were so many amazing experiences we had on this trip. We ended up doing four scenic flights and each one was just incredible as the other. From seeing the Rainbow Lakes in Esperance, to flying over the remarkable Bungle Bungles in the Kimberley, flying over the wetlands in Kakadu National Park and of course ticking off a bucket list experience of flying in a helicopter over Uluru. All of these experiences were completely pinch me moments that allowed us to see how huge and diverse Australia truly is.

Being up close to nature and so many diverse landscapes really did make us reflect on our lives and helped us be more present. It gave us an opportunity to open our hearts and stand side by side witnessing more incredible moments together, just like we did years ago. Because our lives had changed over the last few years. This trip reminded us of who we are and how travel is such an important part of our existence.

This road trip made us feel alive, present and connected to ourselves, each other and to Australia.
